Mary and Max

If you like depressing movies, then you should watch this one. Mary is a young 8 year old girl living in the suburbs of Melbourne. She randomly picks a name out of a New York phone book, hoping to be friends with that stranger. The stranger is a man named Max, and he's an overweight depressive in his 40's, suffering from Aspergers Syndrome. A friendship is born and they exchange letters for 20 years, offering support, advice, and the chance to see life through someone else's eyes. It's a funny and touching story, with amazing animation and even though their lives are bleak, they never wallow in self pity. The only problem I have with this is the constant narration. I like Barry Humphries but basically everything is narrated.
